AMI is a not-for-profit media company that entertains, informs and empowers Canadians who are blind or partially sighted. Operating three broadcast services, AMI-tv and AMI-audio in English and AMI-télé in French, AMI’s vision is to establish and support a voice for Canadians with disabilities, representing their interests, concerns and values through accessible media, reflection and portrayal. AMI channels are free as a part of a basic digital cable package in Canada.

AMI-tv

AMI-tv produces an array of original content with a focus on accessibility and inclusion. The original program AMI This Week provides a weekly account of community events, inspiring people and interesting stories from across the country. Our Community highlights the people, places, organizations or things that have made life a little more enjoyable for individuals living with a disability across Canada.

Be Entertained

Browse any of our original programs including the true crime series What Happened to Holly Bartlett and the program driving positive social change through sport, Level Playing Field. Travel through Canada with the Postcards From series and visit the people and traditions that shape our communities.

Be Empowered

Tune in to AMI’s original documentaries like No Vacancy: Vancouver's Housing Crisis and Accidental Activist where we explore stories focused on the people shaping policy and advocacy in our community. Watch You Can't Ask That and Employable Me as these shows smash the misconceptions around society and disability.

Have your voice be heard by joining the AMI research panel where more than 1,500 blind or partially sighted Canadians have shared their voice to help create the AMI shows YOU want to watch.

AMI’s Robert Pearson Memorial Scholarship Program is open to Canadian citizens with a permanent disability who are currently registered in and returning to a full-time program of study at an accredited Canadian post-secondary college or university. In 2021, AMI will award two $5,000 bursaries to two deserving students with a permanent disability; one from the English community and one from the French.

AMI-audio provides different perspectives of the blind and partially sighted community through a number of original programs.

Weekday afternoons at 2 p.m. Eastern, catch Kelly and Company for arts, entertainment and lifestyle information. Contributors from across the country share information on everything from finance to fashion and gaming. Plus, hear about the latest in audio books and accessible technology.

Be Empowered

Saturdays and Sundays at 10 a.m. Eastern, dig deep and go beyond the 24-hour news cycle with host Joeita Gupta on The Pulse. Start your morning off on the right foot by listening to NOW with Dave Brown. Hosted by seasoned broadcaster and journalist Dave Brown, who is blind, the program airs live weekdays at 9 a.m. ET on AMI-audio and AMI-tv. NOW with Dave Brown is fearless in how news of the day is addressed, arming listeners and viewers with information about what’s going on in their community, their city, their province, their country and their world.

AMI-audio also records and curates a selection of feature articles from top print publications read by a team of professional narrators. Hear health, lifestyle, business and global affairs from The Globe and Mail, The Guardian and The Walrus.
