Hemophilia Ontario has a new website! Welcome Heroixx.ca!
Hemophilia Ontario has committed to placing its focus on women living with bleeding disorders. This commitment led to the creation of Heroixx, and our ongoing commitment to our community.
This website is a welcome space for everyone. This has been intentionally designed as a space for advocacy and education first.
You will see the term “women” throughout the site and our resources, our language choice is purposeful and is to represent the historical dismissal of women with bleeding disorders. You will also see the term “people who menstruate” to allow space for all people who may face similar issues and challenges to feel welcome here. We wanted a website that did not continue to perpetuate the sexism that exists within our healthcare systems, that remains ignorant to the issues of women’s bleeding disorders. However, we also do not want to contribute to a system that continues to marginalize other groups of people. We commit to learning and growing in this domain of language and gender, and will continue to evolve, ensuring representation of everyone who may benefit from this information.
