Understanding Pain: PAINtalks Returns for a 10th edition

Discover new insights on pain at PAINtalks, a free bilingual conference bridging the gap between science and society on the latest advances in pain research.

A Decade of Inspiring Dialogue on Pain

The Quebec Network of Junior Pain Investigators is proud to announce the 10th edition of its PAINtalks conference, taking place live from the Gesù Creative Arts Center in Montreal on November 13th, 2025. This bilingual, free and public event continues a decade-long tradition of TED-style presentations that make complex scientific ideas engaging and accessible to everyone.

The PAINtalks were created by a group of students wishing to help people living with chronic pain. Having their well-being in mind, they strive to provide them with the best and accessible experience. Each speaker receives a personalized training by an expert in speaking abilities, allowing them to deliver a memorable and educative talk on their research project. An event that has started as a local gathering of promising young researchers sharing their knowledge, now attracts world leaders bringing new perspectives on how to tackle chronic pain as an individual, and as a society.

Understanding Pain

Pain is not just a physical sensation; it is a multidimensional experience shaped by biology, psychology, and social context. PAINtalks 2025 present new discoveries in the field that are reshaping our understanding of pain.

The program will feature experts in pain science, clinicians, as well as people who live with pain. From the introspective realm of spirituality to the precision of electrical engineering, this year’s edition showcases the many ways chronic pain can be manifested and explored. Though such diversity might make pain treatment seem overwhelming, PAINtalks reminds us how creative, talented, and perseverant young researchers are in this journey of finding new treatments against chronic pain. Through a mix of personal stories and cutting-edge research, the conference will foster empathy, knowledge sharing, and hope for better pain treatment approaches.
