Motherhood often comes with societal expectations and pressures. How do you prioritize self-love and self-care amidst the demands of being a mom?

It took a lot of practice, but I reminded myself daily that self-love and self-care is NOT selfish, but essential for my well-being and effectiveness as a mother. I learned to set boundaries, delegate tasks, and carve out regular ‘me-time’ to recharge mentally, physically, and emotionally. If I don’t take care of myself, how can I take care of my family?! I am a better woman, mother, and wife because of this!

Throughout your journey, what self-love practices have you found most effective in maintaining a positive mindset and emotional well-being?

I learned to develop a solid morning routine that I committed to and blocked off the time in my calendar. Hold yourself to it like you would a meeting with your boss! 

My morning non-negotiable self-love practices include:

  • Not looking at my phone right when I wake up – huge game changer!
  • Writing in my gratitude journal – even if it’s simply jotting down 3 things.
  • Listening to a short, guided meditation – give yourself grace because this takes time and practice.
  • Movement – this can be a workout, a walk or an active mobility stretch

As an influencer, how do you use your platform to promote a positive and realistic view of motherhood, emphasizing the importance of self-love in the process?

As an online content creator, I use my platform to showcase the reality of motherhood, highlighting its highs, lows, and everything in between. However, my primary focus is on championing self-love by advocating for the nurturing of both mental and physical well-being, and setting realistic expectations, especially when it comes to health and fitness. I also love incorporating my children into my active lifestyle and believe that this inspires others to do the same. My ultimate goal continues to be empowering fellow mothers to prioritize their health and approach their motherhood journey with confidence and compassion.

What are your favourite things about being a mom?

I have had many jobs in my life, but my most important ‘job’ to date is being a mother. There are a lot of things I love about motherhood, particularly witnessing my girls’ growth, milestones and seeing them develop into unique and beautiful individuals. I cannot put into words the profound connection, love, and meaningful experiences that my children give me, but I can say that they give me the deepest purpose. They are my WHY.

Throughout your journey, what are some of the most important lessons you’ve learned?

I am learning a new lesson every single day as a mother and it’s an incredible thing! I can say that I’ve truly learned the importance of self-care and prioritizing my own well-being is key to me being the best parent I can be. But with that said, a valuable lesson I’ve learned as a mother is the importance of patience and adaptability – parenthood constantly presents unexpected challenges, so learning to be calm, understanding, and flexible is essential to being a mom and it’s what means the most to the little humans we are raising in this world today!
