Menopause knowledge is menopause power.
With 10 million women—one-quarter of Canada’s population—aged 40-plus, menopause is everywhere. It’s one of humankind’s most universal health transitions, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy or predictable. No two menopause experiences are exactly alike, but everyone deserves the reliable information and knowledgeable care they need to understand what’s happening in their body, and the options available to help them feel better, stronger, and more like themselves again. Everyone deserves to thrive through menopause.
It starts with knowledge
It might be an inevitable part of life, but one in two women feel unprepared for menopause, according to a Canadian report. The good news is knowledge is power. The Menopause Foundation of Canada offers a number of evidence-backed resources, like its new digital tool, Menopause Essentials, which explains the menopause journey and what to expect, and provides expert information on symptoms, treatments and more. For those looking to find a healthcare provider or to make the most out of an appointment, the Foundation’s new Take Charge of Your Menopause Care guide offers a practical tool for finding and getting quality menopause care.
“Menopause is women’s health and women’s health is everyone’s health.”

Knowledge is the first step; governments also have an important role to play in making the menopause experience better for all. This World Menopause Month, the Menopause Foundation of Canada is launching the Menopause Policy Agenda for Canada, which outlines seven priority policy priorities for federal and provincial/territorial governments for more equitable and accessible care and treatment, and more.
Change is needed, says MFC Ambassador, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau. “Everyone deserves care, information, and the assurance that what they are experiencing is real, it has a name, and there is help. Menopause is women’s health and women’s health is everyone’s health,” she continued. “This is a stage of life worth celebrating.”
