Do you regularly suffer from uncomfortable symptoms in your digestive tract? These could include heartburn, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, indigestion, bloating, bowel cramping, constipation, diarrhea, or others. If so, you might be one of the approximately 2 in 3 Canadians who suffer from a gastrointestinal (GI) disease or disorder.

From gum to bum, there are so many conditions that affect the gut. Good news! There are also countless treatments and management techniques that can help you take control of your gut health. Our medical advisory council has vetted our resources to ensure you only get medically-sound materials you can rely on.

Information Hubs

Find everything you need to know about a specific digestive tract topic in one place. We currently have comprehensive information hubs for inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, obesity, mental health and the gut, seniors’ gut health, kids’ gut health, and food and nutrition, with more on the way. Each of these pages contains a plethora of information and helpful tips on disease basics, treatment, patient experience, nutrition, lifestyle, and more, presented in a variety of formats, such as videos, infographs, reports, and articles.

Throughout the rest of our website, you will find helpful information and tools for dozens of other digestive conditions, so make sure to take a look around and learn something new. You might be able to help someone else too, by sharing what you find.

Support Groups

Digestive conditions can be isolating. Fear of accidents or persistent pain and symptoms can keep people living with digestive conditions stuck at home and cultural taboos and stigma can make it difficult for people to talk to loved ones about their experiences. This is why we have two online support groups: one for people living with IBD and one for various digestive and mental health concerns; as well as two Facebook groups: one on irritable bowel syndrome and one on obesity. Join our groups to find support and connect with people going through the same things as you.

The Gastrointestinal Society/Canadian Society of Intestinal Research

We are proud to be celebrating 50 years of serving people living with digestive, obesity, and liver conditions as of October 2026. Our variety of services, including in-person BadGut® Lectures, the Inside Tract® (our quarterly newsletter), research, and patient advocacy, have been vital tools for Canadians for decades. Our website showcases many hidden gems.

With the right support and treatment plans, you can go from a place of striving to a life of thriving. We’re here to help.
