Cat & Nat Q&A

Can you share some practical tips for keeping your family healthy during cold and flu season

With 7 kids between us we kind of have to (and love to) “do life” together. It’s a crazy schedule with multiple schools and lots of hockey and dance. What we try hard to do is have the kids sleep well during the school week. We know sleep makes a big difference in health so it’s one we TRY to enforce for the whole group of us.

What role does diet play in supporting your family’s immune health?

We got very lucky with our kids, most of them love lots of fruits and veggies (we also love sweets, don’t get us wrong!). We remind them to drink lots of water and find ways to get protein in their bodies.

Are there any specific immune-supporting foods or recipes you recommend for kids?

Again salad or veggies at every meal and snacking on fruits and veggies. Smoothies are good when we are in a rush.

How do you manage stress as parents, and does it relate to immune health?

Cat: I am focusing on working out and putting it at the forefront for my health and mental well being.
Nat: hmmm. I’ll look into that.

What are your thoughts on supplements for immune support, especially for kids?

If the doctor suggests a supplement then we are fine to try anything.  We are also curious people so we research and try things when we hear about them.

How do you manage germs and school during cold and flu season?
