Nursing training and research opportunities

Canadore College is recognized for its use of simulation in nursing education, one of the cornerstones of The Village, Canadore’s revolutionary approach to teaching Canada’s next generation of health and wellness professionals.

Canadore’s Health Sciences Simulation Centre contains high- and low-fidelity labs that support academic programs and research. The labs are equipped with state-of-the-art medical, respiratory, and rehabilitation equipment, audio/visual simulators, and interactive mannequins that can speak and replicate real symptoms. Students have the opportunity to develop clinical practice skills and be evaluated in this simulated learning environment. The BScN curriculum includes lab, simulation, and clinical practicum components in all eight semesters.

Canadore’s nursing programs are conducting several interprofessional education research initiatives within the college, as well as in co-operation with other universities, industry partners, and international organizations. BScN students will have the opportunity to engage in these research endeavours with faculty, such as projects using social robots to research ways of ending the social isolation of senior citizens.
